Raising the Bar

Serve up swanky drinks at your next soiree with a well-stocked and -styled home bar. "You can create a space where people want to gather and have a conversation," says Greg Morris, owner of Wine and Design in Tremont. Morris shares how to organize, fill and personalize your conversation starter.
Map it out: Create zones for liquor, wines, nonalcoholic beverages, glassware and tools. "A small tray can keep your wine key, bottle stoppers and foil cutter in one place," Morris says.
Color code: Painted or colored glassware, striped straws, napkins or even liquor and wine bottles with labels you love add pops of unexpected hues.
Beginner bottles: Start small. A home bar should have vodka, rum, whiskey and gin, plus a jigger, shot glass and tongs. "You don't even need wine at first," Morris says.
Upcycle: Add whimsy with items that serve no other purpose than to look pretty. Morris filled a wire wine bottle cage with corks for a fun but inexpensive centerpiece.
