Rating the Suburbs: The Case for Better Transportation

An effective public transportation system is essential for the functioning and enjoyment of a great metropolitan area.

With downtown Cleveland and University Circle most easily accessible by public transit and offering opportunities for employment, education and entertainment, it's important for those living in the suburbs to have easy and affordable access. And we're not just talking about options for millennials. Students, older adults and anyone who cannot or do not want to rely on an automobile should be connected to these assets.

The wheels are already in motion. Opened in December, the new Cleveland State Line, which begins in the heart of the college's downtown campus, features 19 stations along Clifton Boulevard through Bay Village, Westlake, Rocky River, Fairview Park, Lakewood and Cleveland.

To keep the engine of our city's revitalization running, we need to find similar ways to link suburbanites with Cleveland.
