4077th: Side-stitching Fun
"M*A*S*H's" final episode in 1983 was the most-watched program in TV history. But before the smash-hit television series came Robert Altman's hilarious 1970 film, "M*A*S*H".
Young Elliott Gould, Tom Skerritt and Donald Sutherland stitch their way through the Korean War while splitting the sides of audience members with their devil-may-care attitudes. They also make war hell for Robert Duvall, who plays the straight-laced Major Frank Burns.
See the film at the Cleveland Institute of Art's Cleveland Cinematheque Jan. 12, at 9:20 p.m. The movie, part of CIA's tribute to Robert Altman's Seventies, which runs through February 24, is in new 35 mm format.
Admission is $6. The Cinematheque is located at 11141 East Blvd. in Cleveland.
