Always a classic

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron hosts its 45th annual Antique, Classic & Collector Car Show June 16, featuring "Cadillac's 100th anniversary," a celebration of the fine automobile craftsmanship that line represents.

More than 350 cars will be on display, ranging in age from 106 years to 25 years old. Tickets for adults cost $7, $5 for members. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free.

Alehouse rock

The marriage of beer and chili is as long-standing as habañero peppers are hot. And Tower City Amphitheater will be overflowing with all three this weekend as the Midwest BrewFest and Northeast Ohio Firefighters Chili Cook-Off descends upon downtown Cleveland June 14 and 15.

More than 200 beers will be available during three different tasting sessions — one on Friday June 14 (5 p.m.-midnight); two on Saturday (1p.m.-6 p.m. and 7 p.m.-midnight).

Admission to the first two sessions is $5. The third session costs $15. Ticket prices include entertainment. For more information, click to www.cleveland.com/brewfest.

Liberation celebration

Juneteenth, a worldwide celebration of the ending of slavery in the United States, will be observed June 15 at Oberlin College.

The festival runs from 10 a.m.-dusk on Tappan Square in downtown Oberlin. A Civil War re-enactment featuring the 102nd Infantry, a parade, food and entertainment highlight the fete.
