The Case for August Smart Lock

Become the key master with total control over your front door.

Feel like the master of keys with the August smart door lock ($229). While other smart locks use Bluetooth to unlock your door with your phone, the August offering connects to you Wi-Fi and lets you create virtual keys to send to someone. Dog walker coming between 1 and 2 p.m.? Send a virtual key that only works during that time frame. “You’re not having to hand out a key that could be replicated,” says Jason Dietrick, vice president of smart home installation company Sound and Vision. “You can also just remotely unlock the door to let somebody in immediately.”
