Rock is, of course, represented in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s list of 2026 nominees. And so is pop, rap, metal, R&B and more, in a surprisingly wide-ranging group of musicians that was announced today.
Considered a longtime Rock Hall snub, heavy metal band Iron Maiden has been nominated for its third time. Other three-time nominees include standout pop-singer Mariah Carey, recently reunited Britpop band Oasis, and a combined nomination for synthy new-wave groups Joy Division and its continuation in New Order.
Plenty of artists on the list have been officially nominated for the first time, including soul singer Luther Vandross, pop-rock star P!NK and acclaimed singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Phil Collins, who was inducted into the Rock Hall as a member of Genesis in 2010, now gets his own nomination for the first time.
“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture," said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a news release. “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall.”
Fan voting for nominees is now available on the Rock Hall’s website. While the Rock Hall hasn’t announced details for its 2026 induction ceremony, it’s expected to take place in Cleveland based on past event patterns.
