Tips For Throwing Your New Year's Eve Bash

Heading out to a flashy bar for New Year’s Eve might look fun, but if you want to take it easy on your wallet, a bash at home is just as exciting. Melanie Tindell, owner of Oak & Honey Event Planning Co., helps us plan for a charming celebration.

Pick a Theme
Tindell suggests choosing how formal you want the event to be. “If you want a sit-down dinner, then you can have your guests dress up,” she says. “But if you just want snacks and drinks, it can be more casual.” 

Sequence Supplies
Since you’ll be partying until midnight (and beyond), don’t put all of your food and drinks out at once. “If it’s formal, start with dinner and keep some lighter options for later,” says Tindell. “That will help your guests feel satisfied through the whole party.”

Have Fun
Between eating and drinking, your guests will need things to do. Tindell suggests options such as cards, photo booths, games and more. “New Year's Eve parties are long,” she says. “Make sure you have entertainment for the whole night.”
