George Michaels never has a bad day at work. As the lead operator for the 106-year-old Euclid Beach Carousel at the Cleveland History Center, the man they call “Carousel George” provides blast-from-the-past rides during Euclid Beach Park Day July 23. “I get to go to work happy, I get to leave happy and somewhere in between I get to give people happiness,” says Michaels. “I’ve seen people reduced to tears at the mere sight of [the carousel].” About 1,000 Euclid Beach Park fans turned out for last year’s inaugural event. Museum visitors can relive their amusement park memories from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., complete with the original Weber’s vanilla ice cream, Laughing Sal and the iconic rocket ship car. 10825 East Blvd., Cleveland, 216-721-5722, wrhs.org
