We Tried It

Sorry, kiddies — the baby boomers have taken over. The part of Progressive Field once home to KidsLand, near the right-field foul pole, is now the Indians’ Party Deck.

Here, you are free to indulge in all-you-can-eat picnic favorites such as pulled pork, fried chicken, corn on the cob and hot dogs. Plus the section is outfitted with its own bar. The only catch? Food is only served one hour before game time until 60 minutes after the first pitch. So eat up.

Still, the rows of tables overlooking the action provide a great place to chow down while cheering on right fielder Franklin Gutierrez. And if you do want to retreat to regular seats for a few innings, three rows of section 119 are reserved for use by Party Deck patrons.

While we weren’t joined by 400 of our closest friends (the deck’s capacity) or even the minimum 25 people needed to score a $50 admission price, we quickly bonded with the other fans during our early April preview of the ballpark’s newest spectator space. (Single tickets are $65 and go on sale two weeks prior to a game when the deck is not at capacity.)

And don’t worry, mom and dad, KidsLand is now located on the ballpark’s mezzanine level.
