To put a modern touch on your bathroom, look for fixtures with strong lines and an uncomplicated presentation. Sean Carter, president of the Ohio North Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, offers a few of his all-stars.
Faucet
The Citterio E Single Hole Faucet from Axor ($960-$1,440) boasts clean, sleek lines. While most modern faucets have sported polished chrome, this style comes in an array of finishes. “There has been a recent trend in a variety of metal finishes like brushed gold, polished brass and rose gold,” says Carter.
Mirror
The AiO Lighted Cabinet from Robern ($1,799-$2,249) comes tricked out with a built-in audio system, USB charging ports and electric outlets. But when it comes to putting your best face forward, the mirror’s best feature is touch-control dimmable LED task lighting. “The hottest trend in modern bathroom mirrors today includes integrated LED lighting,” says Carter.
Sink
Ditch oval or rounded edges and opt for a straight-edge design such as MTI’s Continuum sink ($1,060-$1,300). It’s made with Engineered Solid Stone, a mixture of organic natural stone and minerals that’s 100 percent solid, nonporous and stain-resistant. “It’s perfect for the minimalistic consumer looking for an eye-catching modern bath,” he says.
