Living is easy when you’ve got the choice of two in-house fitness centers, a rooftop pool, a concierge to handle package pickups and deliveries and University Circle’s amenities at your doorstep.
For Tiffany and David Laczynski, these conveniences made their transition from downtown Chicago to Cleveland surprisingly seamless.
“We really liked the easy living of Chicago,” says Tiffany. During their four years in the Windy City, she worked at JPMorgan Chase while David was in medical school at Loyola University Chicago. “We lived in a high-rise and my husband walked to work at the hospital.”
When he was matched to be a vascular surgery resident at the Cleveland Clinic, she got a transfer to JPMorgan’s Cleveland office. The couple moved to town Memorial Day weekend and settled in just a month after the 24-floor apartment building opened in April.
The draw? Location was a factor and so was lifestyle.
“It’s so convenient,” Tiffany says. “We go down to Case to walk around campus, and it’s nice for me to get to work downtown without getting on the highway. My husband walks to work.”
Their one-bedroom unit’s lofty 10- to 12-foot ceilings and walls of windows create an open feeling. “We love having a balcony off of our bedroom,” Tiffany says. Two red sling chairs on the outside perch are their favorite spots to relax, with views of the property’s rooftop pool and John Hay High School. “We use that outdoor space all the time.”
The kitchen features sleek quartz countertops and cherry Shaker-style cabinets. The space flows into the living room, which makes it ideal for entertaining. “We cook a lot more now,” Tiffany remarks. When the couple goes out, they enjoy popping in to Mama Santa’s in Little Italy for pizza or L’Albatros Brasserie & Bar for a special meal.
The Laczynskis’ contemporary taste suits One University Circle’s features and finishes. They furnished the unit with a comfortable, brown leather couch in the living area. An upholstered headboard and breezy duvet on their bed suits the modern space.
“We love the way this place is new, fresh and modern,” Tiffany says. “We like neutral colors like whites, grays and navy.”
A typical day begins as early as 5 a.m. at the complex’s fitness center, which offers cardio and strength-training equipment in one 2,800-square-foot studio and a second Wellbeats studio with on-demand virtual fitness classes. “We have such limited time in the day,” she says. “It’s convenient for the fitness rooms to be in the building.”
Located on a fifth-floor rooftop, the outdoor pool creates a sense of privacy yet openness. A grilling area and lounge seating make the lap-size pool a hotspot for entertaining or relaxing. The views of the outdoor oasis helped sway their decision on which unit to select.
The couple appreciates the building’s location overlooking Wade Lagoon. It’s a refreshing change from the sirens and traffic noise that was a constant at their Chicago place. “We can actually hear birds chirp,” Tiffany says. “Little things like that have been nice.”
Adjusting to life here has also been eased by the building staff. “They are so helpful and accommodating,” she says, “from making sure our move-in went smoothly to being there to answer questions.”
Now, the Laczynskis are looking forward to exploring more of Cleveland. “We love trying new restaurants,” Tiffany says, “and all of that is right here.”
