Then: Portable, petite and perfectly swirled with a dollop of frosting, Main Street Cupcakes convinced us that good things come in small packages. In 2007, sisters and co-owners Sarah Forrer and Kimberly Martin opened their little blue shop in Hudson with 15 flavors, including the Half-Baked, a vanilla cupcake filled with cookie dough and topped with vanilla buttercream and a house-made chocolate chip cookie. Now: The sisters expanded their business to four locations but have since scaled back to their flagship Hudson location, where they dream up more than 300 flavors, and their newest Chagrin Falls spot, which is great for hosting birthday parties and decorating workshops. "A lot of girls want to learn. They want to grow up and own a bakery," says Forrer. "We have a lot of moms who want to bring their kids in and do it with them. They are really proud to see their kids learn new things." 238 N. Main St., Hudson, 330-342-0833; 9 N. Franklin St., Chagrin Falls, 440-247-7745, mainstreetcupcakes.com
