From the electric street lamp to rock ‘n’ roll and Superman, Clevelanders have created some pretty cool stuff. Who’s to say that the next bright idea — a collaborative documentary, a new piece of tech — is far away? That’s the goal of IngenuityFest, a three-day get-together of area artists, inventors and tinkerers, paired with an expanded IngenuityLabs program, on-site incubation space for potential “next big thing” projects. $5 day pass, $10 weekend pass. Zygote Press Fine Print Fair
Fifteen exhibitors from throughout the country —stretching from Zygote to Warnock Fine Arts in Palm Springs, California—set up shop in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s spacious atrium to display and sell outstanding works, including 19th-century French drawings, Japanese etchings and contemporary American prints. Boppin’ in the Wild Blue
Sometimes a broomstick is just a broomstick. Well, for artists like Zak Smoker, Stacey Holloway, Marc Petrovic or Erin Duhigg, it’s something else. These four sculptors, glass blowers and multimedia crafters open the Sculpture Center’s latest show marked by the common thread of “retooled” found objects — from seashell ornaments to “flying” carpets — to riff on the idea of art as a re-imagination of the world. Wonder Woman Symposium
Known as Diana Prince to confidantes, Princess Diana of Themyscira to residents of her homeland — and simply Wonder Woman to the rest of us, the comic book world’s leading power female is the center of a three-day conference led by large panel list of artists, editors, authors and activists. Everyone is coming together to celebrate the super heroine’s impact on American pop culture and feminism. Free. Ohio City Street Fest
The West Side’s quickest-to-expand neighborhood hosts a one-day festival to pay tribute to its prized restaurants and businesses. Spearheaded by live music in Market Square Park, Ohio City’s revelry features a wide selection of fun from face-painting artists to a Great Beer Chase 5K, to a Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream eating contest.
