The Tri-C JazzFest this year brings together some of the biggest stars in the genre this summer in Downtown Cleveland.
The festival, set to run June 26-28 in Playhouse Square venues, announced its lineup on Saturday evening. Passes to the festival are on sale for $300 until April 1, and individual concert tickets go on sale after April 1.
The lively Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue kicks off the weekend on Friday, June 26. On Saturday, Afrofuturist jazz group Sun Ra Arkestra performs, followed by five-time Grammy-winning icon Dianne Reeves performing with Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo on Sunday.
Other highlights include the great jazz bassist Stanley Clarke, Cuban bandleader Pedrito Martinez and saxophonist Kirk Whalum performing with singer-guitarist Jonathan Butler. Cleveland native Dominick Farinacci will lead a group performance to celebrate songs of Chick Corea and Gary Burton, and Akron native Dan Wilson will join the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra in a tribute to jazz pianist Oscar Peterson.
