As president of American Outlaws’ Cleveland chapter, the official fan group of U.S. Men’s National Team, Jason Gillette knows a little something about U.S. Soccer fandom. No matter the score, the Outlaws keep singing, chanting and waving their scarves. And, now, they’re bringing a two-day soccer bash to Cleveland June 21 & 22. Join local supporters for the night-before party in the Flats, a pre-match Muni Lot tailgate and the traditional march to the stadium. We talked to Gillette about what makes an American Outlaws membership special.
If you’re an American Outlaw, you can go to any city and find a bar to watch the U.S. game. People will welcome you and probably even buy you a beer. Anywhere you go, you’ll find a surrogate soccer family. Here in Cleveland, we’ve got a tight-knit community among soccer fans. We want to make it loud in the stadium and cheer the boys on. An AO night-before is just like seeing your summer camp friends again. It will be a great time to be down in the Flats because we’ll have soccer to celebrate. On game day, the tailgate in the Muni Lot is exactly like a Browns tailgate. Just with nice weather. — as told to Kevin CarpenterRead more about USMNT's June 22 appearance in Cleveland in "Soccer Has Arrived In Cleveland."
