What It’s About
Tweets from @LtBakerMayfield take the form of old-timey letters written home to mother. From in-season dispatches from the front lines of the Browns’ latest battles to off-season memos from the campgrounds of Berea, this Civil War soldier parody account is a humorous way to stay up-to-date on the troops in brown and orange.
Sample Tweet
Dearest Mother: Though we know it surrenders the north to the Steel Regiment, #Browns Co. has besieged Baltimore. This den of thieves and the overpraised dodger who leads them must be stopped from infiltrating the January campaign. For the honor of #Cleveland, to arms! — Baker. (Dec. 29, 2018)
Inspiration
A similar Civil War account parodying Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck inspired the creator, who wishes to remain anonymous. “When Baker showed up sporting the full historical-looking beard I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if Cleveland had its own pseudo-Civil War character?’ ” says the Cleveland native.
