Green Tea Oil, Rose Mint Oil, From The Ribb ($15, $8)
I’m not a skincare expert by any means, but I know that one of the number one rules is that the simpler the ingredients, the better. While visiting a Juneteenth event this past month, I was able to discover a bunch of new artisans and small businesses, including the local, organic skincare brand, From The Ribb. With a focus on natural formulas, the local, holistic company has everything from hand soap to herbal supplements. After a bit of back and forth, I decided to get some Green Tea Oil which tightens pores and smooths skin, as well as a Rose Mint Lip Oil which is infused with rose petals. Especially after a tough, dry winter, I’m excited to try these out and rejuvenate my skin for the summer. fromtherib.org

Glass vase, Glass Bubble Project, ($90 for workshop, includes two pieces)
I can’t say I ever really wanted to try my hand at glass-blowing. But during a recent heat wave, my friends and I decided to take a workshop at the Glass Bubble Project in Ohio City. The knowledgeable and laid-back staff guided us through the process, which takes about three hours to make two pieces: one solid and one blown (pictured). I picked different pieces of broken yellow, orange and white glass to swirl into my piece, wanting to mimic sunshine. Even though the process involves placing your piece in extremely hot ovens and requires your constant attention to shape and mold vases, sun catchers and olive oil bottles (just to name a few of the things you can make!), the experience was very rewarding when I got to see a ball of hot glass transform into a sculpture right before my eyes. 2421 Bridge Ave., Cleveland, 216-696-7043, glassbubbleproject.com

Tan Ring Dish, Svona Studio (Large $14, Small $8)
Local artist Shelly Svonavec makes amazing and one of a kind prints, mugs, tumblers, candles and so much more out of her studio. Not only does Svona Studio have beautiful pieces to look at, many are available to take home. I purchased two sizes of her tan ring dishes which perfectly hold my jewelry but also make a decorative statement. She also sells a series of other items such as vases and ceramic hanging totems which all have her distinct style to them. Plus, if you give her a follow on Instagram (@svonastudio) you can see more of her work, behind the scenes videos and even learn about workshops she hosts. 3619 Walton Ave., svonastudio.com
