Bar 32
Earning its name for being 32 stories high, Hilton Cleveland Downtown’s Bar 32 and its respective views are a welcome addition to the city. The sunsets from up here are pretty gorgeous, and including Burke Lakefront Airport or FirstEnergy Stadium in the frame makes your view (and your photos) unmistakably Cleveland. “It is a photo stop no matter the occasion,” says Carolyn Deming, director of public relations. Because it is a bar (no one under 21 is admitted), this is an ideal place to kick off a swanky bachelor/bachelorette party or wind down after a rehearsal dinner, although they don’t take reservations. 100 Lakeside Ave. East, Cleveland, 216-413-5000, hiltoncleveland.com
Pier W
Pier W is the only restaurant in Cleveland that’s on the water and boasts a view of the city, says general manager Mark Kawada. “It’s the whole Cleveland skyline,” he says, “and all of Lake Erie.” This incredible view is an ideal way to impress the anti-Cleveland cynicism out of your out-of-town guests. If you opt for a brunch or rehearsal dinner here, your party will be in the dining room with the rest of the guests, unless you book the private room, which doesn’t offer the spectacular views. The deck is a stunning spot for photos, and, if you’re willing to gamble on the weather, you can even rent it out with a modified menu. 12700 Lake Ave., Winton Place, Lakewood, 216-228-2250, pierw.com
Alley Cat Oyster Bar
“The view is about two things,” says chef/owner Zack Bruell. “The bridges and the river.” With the bridges illuminated, the result is an industrial/natural mashup that’s nothing short of breathtaking. The restaurant on the East Bank of the Flats has an upstairs area for private functions. The wrap-around outdoor bar isn’t open in winter, but don’t overlook Alley Cat during the cold months — even if you have to sip hot toddies between photos. “It’s otherworldly,” Bruell says. “The river is jagged and piled up. It’s almost like moonscape.” 1056 Old River Road, Cleveland, 216-574-9999, alleycatoysterbar.com
