Food Truck Challenge
We're loving the food truck rage right now. But as for our favorite, you'll have to take the advice of our managing editor and dining editor Kim Schneider as she judges fare from over 25 trucks. Contestants include Wild Spork, Fired Up Taco Truck, Smooth Rider, Boca Loca Burrito Factory and more fighting for awards such as Best on a Plate, Best on a Bun, Judges' Best Overall, Fans' Best Overall. But don't let your tastebuds do all of the dancing — check out live performances from Eric Embacher and Attraxxion during the day. Free. The Barber of Seville
This opera isn's what we're used to. A comedic tale filled with love, war, vibrato and crescendo is set in a small town in Spain where Dr. Bartolo wants the young Rosina, who is under his care. as his wife. But the Count Almaviva, who is also after the young girl's hand, takes hate into his own hands and recruits help from Figaro, a local barber. $25-$100. Chagrin Documentary Film Festival
In an age where we get most of our documentaries from Netflix, passionate filmmakers are still setting out to show sides of issues, people and events that typically go unseen. This fest provides several activities where attendees can witness panel discussions and special events featuring films such as Superfood Chain, a film that follows the ever-changing superfood fad such as avocados or quinoa and how farmers keep up with the demand. Or Defining Hope, which follows the stories of people with life threatening illnesses and the nurses who take care of them. $10-$250. Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood
We all remember them from Whose Line Is It Anyway but now the comedic improv duo is taking it off the television and onto the stage. The collaborations of the two comedians provide a show full of audience suggestion and interaction. Comedic genius and Scotland native, Collin Mochrie, in combination with the clever wit of the Chicago native, Brad Sherwood is stand-up comedy at its funniest. $25-$45. East Bank Bacon Festival
A celebration of bacon, beer and live bands, the 2nd annual festival pays homage to a love for salt-cured pork. Have your way choosing from a bacon-infused menu catered by local restaurants and chefs. Hosted by Flats East Bank and Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland, all proceeds from this event will go the fight against local hunger in Cuyahoga County.
