19th Annual Walk, Rock and Run for The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio
Lace up those neon shoes and grab an ice-cold water bottle. The location and time is completely up to participants in The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio’s 19th Annual Walk, Rock and Run event. Walk or run this 5K from a treadmill, a favorite park or the neighborhood. A T-Shirt is included in the fee for runners and mailed after the event. Times must be submitted online by 4 p.m. on June 4. Take a jog downtown this weekend to cheer on the home team. Our baseball team returns home to (hopefully) triumph against the Minnesota Twins. Crawford, Coffee & Cars at The Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum
Even if you’re not a motorhead, historic automobiles give a glimpse of the road traveled in research, society and culture, stimulating the imagination as to where we’ll go next. Until then, or until cars can fly, take a leisure drive south to the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum’s Restoration and Storage Facility in Macedonia for its 22nd open house, the first of two this year. Honk! Jr. at Beck Center For The Arts
Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling returns in a new rendition, Honk! Jr. Climb on the couch at home for the familiar, but timeless message of self-discovery and belonging within Ugly’s world on the farm, as numerous animals and personalities teach Ugly how to celebrate differences. Weaved into the heart-melting theme is the promise of laughter, music by George Stiles, and lyrics by Anthony Drewe. Planting Day at Rocky River Park
Left to the mercy of forgotten lunch wrappers and shameless weeds, parks become a shadow of what they could be. The Rocky River Chamber of Commerce is determined to curate natural beauty, one park at a time. This year, Rocky River Park has been adopted for the third annual Planting Day. The family-friendly event allows everyone the chance to make the grass a little greener by removing litter and planting new flower beds with sponsor Ground Works Land Design. The Show Goes On at the Mayfield Road Drive-In Theater
Drive-in theaters have proven themselves versatile in the wake of a global pandemic. Art centers alike have been resilient and steadfast in their mission. Meeting in the middle, the show does indeed go on for Fairmount Center for the Arts’ dance and arts celebration this coming Friday.
