The stars were out on Tuesday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as Cleveland Heights natives Jason and Travis Kelce were in attendance for their bobblehead night as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Boston Celtics in thrilling fashion.
After trailing by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter, the Cavs' furious comeback was led by forward Dean Wade, who outscored the Celtics on his own in the period, 20-17. Both Kelce brothers witnessed the entire thing, positioned between the Cavs bench and the scorer’s table.
Jason, who announced his retirement from the NFL the day before, was honored with a tribute video and framed Cavaliers jersey with his last name and number on the back of it during a break in the fourth quarter.
The two brothers also chugged a beer during the second half of the game as a way to help fire up the crowd.
During the game, the Cavs struggled offensively. They scored just 45 points in the first half and had just 71 points entering the fourth quarter. Without All-NBA guard Donovan Mitchell due to a knee injury, the team’s offense struggled to get much going until Wade caught fire.
In the fourth, Wade connected on all five 3-pointers he attempted and gave the Cavs the lead for good with a put-back dunk of a Darius Garland missed layup with just 19 seconds remaining. Boston’s final possession resulted in a missed midrange jump shot by Jayson Tatum that was initially ruled a defensive foul against Garland. It was overturned upon video review.
Here’s how the night looked through the lens of Casey Rearick.
