Q:  I’m attending an event where the dress attire is cocktail or casual chic. What should I wear?

A:  Cocktail attire and casual chic are completely different looks; however, when wearing them together, you will definitely turn heads. Cocktail attire is dressy but definitely not formal. Trends such as one-shoulder mini dresses, sequin embellishments and a little black dress will work. Think a more relaxed look for casual chic, but one that is definitely fashion forward — fitted black leather jackets, skinny jeans and boyfriend blazers. To wear both at once, try a sleek mini dress with black opaque tights, black leather ankle boots and tons of necklaces. Find the pieces to create this casual chic/cocktail hybrid at Style Lounge downtown, Kilgore Trout at Eton Chagrin Boulevard and Guess in Beachwood Place.

Q:  I have a sweeping Blackglama mink coat. With the beautiful belts out now, can I change the look with one around the waist?

A:  I love the idea of changing the belt to update your look. It can make it feel brand new. Try adding a contrasting color such as a striking red leather or gold satin belt. Just make sure the coat is fitted around the waist to avoid adding too much bulk and disrupting its flow and elegance. I would also suggest consulting with your furrier (check out the fur salon at Saks Fifth Avenue at Beachwood Place and Alberts at Eton Chagrin Boulevard) as they may have great belting ideas and options as well.
