Q: I work in a corporate setting. What is the best way to dress in hot weather and still look professional?
A: Transitioning corporate work attire from cold to warm weather is always tricky. When deciding what is work-appropriate, first consult your employee handbook or human resources office for guidelines. This season, wear belted cotton shirtdresses, crepe wrap dresses and shaped shift dresses instead of your typical business look. Be sure to also choose softer colors such as yellow, white and seafoam green, which will reflect the sun and keep you cool. Find these looks at Ann Taylor at Summit Mall, Macy’s at Great Northern Mall and Joss at Eton Chagrin Boulevard.

Q: When is it not appropriate for a man to wear jeans with a sport coat?
A: Although denim has become the go-to item in most wardrobes, it can never replace a great suit. Therefore, a man should never sport denim duds to a semiformal or formal event. While adding a sport coat to jeans finishes a look — taking it from casual to casual chic — it definitely doesn’t formalize the outfit. Buy great jeans at Next in Beachwood Place, Adesso Fashion for Men in Rocky River and the Gap Outlet at Aurora Farms.
