Q:
Where is a good place to buy sunglasses? I love the look of designer frames but, unlike Paris Hilton, I definitely don’t have a designer budget.
A: Sunglasses are more than just a fashion statement: they are a necessity to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Trends to look for are classic metallic aviators; Ray-Ban Wayfarers; ’70s inspired thick, plastic frames; round frames in bright, bold colors; tortoise-shell frames; gradient lenses, where the color turns from black to clear; and the ever-popular oversize frames. Designer frames are a good signature item to sport but definitely not a must-have. Great places to get discounted designer shades are Filene’s Basement, Marshalls and Off 5th: Saks Fifth Avenue. The frames may be a season or two behind but are just as cute. You can also find designer-frame alternatives at Details at Eton Chagrin Boulevard and Forever 21 at Westfield Southpark. Several retail stores such as Guess, Express, The Loft and Chico’s have their own brand of shades that are on trend and budget friendly. Happy shopping!
