If you’re a fan of vintage fashions with bold patterns, rainbow colors and kitschy styles, Haley Himiko Hudson Morris has a shirt for you. As the owner of Himiko Gogo Memorabilia, she created the party time wonders shirt ($50) with retro fabrics and a zippered crop look. Morris curated a large collection of fun vintage fabrics from eBay and other sources which she used to create the bold, two-tone design.
“The first shirt was literally made from a vintage ’80s bedsheet set,” she says. Eventually, Morris ran out of the original cotton fabric but was able to reprint the design through a reproduction website. “It’s inspired me to try to recreate a lot of the vintage fabrics I have that I’ll never find again,” she says.
The design is retro in more than one way — it’s a merging of two decades. While the fabric was influenced by the ’80s, the shirt’s name comes from the band in That Thing You Do — a movie inspired by the 1960s. “It reminds me of the type of casual shirt you would see on a dancer or just teenagers wearing crop shirts or tank tops in the early ’60s,” Morris says. memorabiliaproductions.com
