If you’re like us, you have your fave chapstick with you at all times. But before you swipe another coat on your dry, cracked lips, consider an all-natural alternative. Basswood Beauty’s rose-infused all-purpose salve ($10) starts with a base of calendula and rose-infused sunflower oil for results that leave your lips hydrated and nourished.

Founder and creator Madalyn McArthur, who started her company in 2015, says making the salve is a two-month process. She tightly seals the oils in a glass jar and places it on a sunny window ledge and then lets Mother Nature do its job. Under the heat of the sun, the oils become more potent enough to strain and formulate it into a creamy, hydrating salve that can also be used for cuticles and minor wounds.

“I love making my products in small batches as it’s more hands-on, personal and fresh,” she says. McArthur is a fan of using calendula, known for its nourishing capabilities and rose oil, which creates a calming scent and a beautiful color. “I like throwing it in my purse, as a mom, and having something for when my kids get a little scratch or have chapped lips,” McArthur says. etsy.com/shop/basswoodbeauty
