Singer-songwriter-guitarist Dan Auerbach’s new solo album Waiting On A Song is inspired by Nashville, Tennessee, where he moved from Akron (we forgive you). But there’s a little bit of his other bands — the Black Keys and the Arcs — in some of the new album’s songs. We help you tune up for the June 2 release.

If you like ... The Arcs
Listen to ... “Shine on Me”
This upbeat toe-tapper reminds us of folksy supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, and fans of Arcs songs such as “Stay in My Corner” and “Outta My Mind” will find comfort in this track’s dreamy eccentricity.

If you like ... The Black Keys
Listen to ... “King of a One Horse Town”
While the song drips with the Keys’ bluesy vibe, it drops some of that band’s gritty, echoey reverb and picks up a little road trip whimsy. But in Auerbach fashion, the chorus’ harmonies make this song one that will be stuck in your head for days.
