Cool World

Arbela Capas, associate editor

Goal Book from Cool World ($19.99)
When local artist Haley Himiko Morris opened her new store Cool Shop in Gordon Square, one of her big goals was to get a vibrant collection of notebooks and journals. That’s when I knew that I would get my 2022 notebook from the ‘80s-themed boutique. After returning to the shop recently, I found a color combination — violet and orange — that immediately spoke to me. This dotted notebook from the brand Rhodia comes in a soft, leather cover and attached bookmarks — a perfect journal for writing ideas, observations and schemes for the new year. Plus, all my journals need to be a soft cover so I can bend them easily when writing, so this unique design was literally made for me. 6511 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, memorabiliaproductions.com

Fetch & Co.

Colleen Smitek, editor

Two prints from Fetch & Co. ($16 each)
My tiny home office, for the longest time, was decorated with photos of my children. Then Zoom became a thing — and I started to wonder if that worked for some of my not-with-coworker meetings. When I saw these Black Label Apparel prints, I knew I’d found a winner. They’re still meaningful (I loved living in Lakewood with all my friends after college) but come across a little sleeker than family portraits. There’s still plenty of photos of my kids in my space, but only I will be looking at them.15613B Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 440-462-9124, fetchand.co

Alesci's

Dillon Stewart, senior editor

Alesci’s Mozzarella and Pepperoni Loaf ($6 per pound)
My grandfather used to bring us these from specialty delis, and one bite reminds me of my smokey- and pepperoni-filled childhood. Nothing but cheese and a shocking amount of pepperoni, these tightly rolled loafs are seriously a ‘70s-era work of art, and Alesci’s in Shoregate, a specialty imported food store in Willowick, has been sculpting these since back then. Order a chunk unsliced, keep them cold in the fridge and cut the thinnest possible slices as you eat. facebook.com/AlescisofShoregate
