Twins Days Festival
Twinsburg is celebrating 200 years of twos. Catch its “TwinCentennial” Twins Days Festival, the largest gathering of twins in the world, this weekend. This year’s festival aims to show how Twinsburg has grown since it was founded by identical twins in 1817, so festivalgoers are encouraged to wear gear that shows off their heritage—anything from a Cleveland cap to a Scottish kilt goes. Even if you were born solo, stop by to witness thousands of twins show off in costume contests, talent shows and a “Double Take Parade.” Free-$20, Aug. 4, Registered twins only, Aug. 5, 9 a.m.- dusk, Aug. 6, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., 10270 Ravenna Road, Twinsburg, twinsdays.org
I Am Artful
After Artful, an organization that provides studio space and education for local artists, found out their lease was being terminated, Heights Arts offered them a neighborly hand (and some gallery space). Artful members’ work is on display at Heights Arts until Aug. 21, but be sure to catch the opening reception this Friday. Free, Aug. 4, 6-9 p.m., 2175 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, heightsarts.org
Vintage Ohio Wine Festival
At the Vintage Ohio Wine Festival, adventurous tasters can go beyond only grape with samples of fun, fruity regional wines made of everything from peaches to raspberries. Standbys such as chardonnay and cabernet (and even a few brews) are still on hand for more conservative connoisseurs. The rustic beauty of Lake Metroparks Farmpark provides a perfect backdrop for the event — no matter what you’re drinking. Free-$45, Aug. 4-5, 1-10 p.m., 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland, visitvintageohio.com
Cleveland Beach Day
Get set to battle on the volleyball court at Edgewater Beach this Saturday. At the Cleveland Beach Day, participants compete at the net and in the sand for high-stakes cash prizes (winners are determined by public beachgoers and a celebrity jury). Additional proceeds benefit the Ace mentoring program, which pairs Cleveland high school students with mentors in architecture, contracting and engineering. Free (plus event fees), Aug. 5, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., 6700 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, Cleveland, events.constantcontact.com
Lakewood Arts Festival
After 40 years, this fest is still committed to featuring up-and-coming local artists along with national talent. In addition to kids’ crafts stations, the day is packed with musicians and food trucks. Plus, it’s all for a good cause as donations and part of the food truck proceeds support a scholarship for a local high school graduate pursuing an art degree and grants for senior and kid-friendly art programs. Free, Aug. 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Detroit Avenue between Arthur and St. Charles avenues, Lakewood, lakewoodartsfest.org
