Watch The Full Games Behind A Few Great Browns Moments
Since there was no preseason to pump us up, we dug up some full game videos of our favorite Cleveland Browns moments.
Bernie Kosar threw for yet another 3,000-yard season to lead the brown and orange to a third-straight AFC Central title. The best part about this clip isn't just the Browns beating the Colts 38-21 but the '80s-style pre- and post-game locker room interviews with Kosar, head coach Marty Schottenheimer and cornerback Hanford Dixon. Unfortunately, the following week Kosar takes on the Denver Broncos' John Elway at Mile High Stadium, where running back Ernest Byner would famously fumble the ball on the 2-yard line.
The Final Home Game — (Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns, Dec. 17, 1995)
"It's like a funeral," one dog-earred and face-painted fan says. Coming off a 10-5 and a playoff win, head coach Bill Belichick's team was terrible, going in to the second last game (and last home game) of the 1995 season with a record of 4-10 — likely due to owner Art Modell announcing the team would move to Baltimore at the end of the season. Drew Carey, Jim Brown and numerous fans color the pre-game broadcast, all shaming the move. As the clock runs out and fans are already tearing the stadium apart to take home souvenirs, the team leaves the city with a glimmer of hope, a very un-Browns move, beating their cross-state rivals 26-10.
The Last Playoff Game — Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Jan. 5, 2002, AFC Wild Card Game)
OK — yes, the Browns lose this game. They lose it in heartbreaking fashion, as the dastardly Pittsburgh Steelers explode for a 22-point fourth quarter to comeback after being down 24-7. They even break a certain writer's 9-year-old heart for the first time. But it is the Browns' last playoff appearance, which for a brief moment looked like it may be a moment of triumph against that team in PA.
The Baker Mayfield Era Begins With Bud Light — Browns vs. New York Jets (Sept. 20, 2018, Regular Season)
Clevelanders were at their whits end after two straight seasons with only one win. The first two weeks of 2018, the Browns were 0-1-1, tying the Steelers week one. The boos from Browns fans in the stadium started quickly, as the Tyrod Taylor-led offense continually stalled out. Down 14-0 with 1:42 left in the second quarter, the rookie quarterback got his first snaps, quickly leading his team down the field for Cleveland's first score of the day, a field goal, before going 17/23 for 201 yards on the night for a 21-17 Browns win. The Baker Mayfield era began that day as the Bud Light "Victory Fridges" were cracked open.
Browns Bounce Baltimore (Surprisingly) — Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens (Sept. 29, 2019, Regular Season)
Obviously 2019 didn't go as planned for the much-hyped team in brown and orange. But there were some glimmers of hope. One such shiny moment was week four when Mayfield and the boys beat up on the Baltimore Ravens 40-25. Sure, the Ravens wouldn't lose another game until the first round of the playoffs and quarterback Lamar Jackson would go on to win the MVP, but paired with just a two-point win over the Browns in the final game of the season, the Ravens have every reason to believe Cleveland has its number in 2020.
