Are you looking to add some new items to your holiday decorations or buy some cute gifts for family and friends? Check out these five Christmas stores in Northeast Ohio to do just that and also make the perfect places to bring your family to create Christmas memories.
Castle Noel
Created by sculptor Mark Klaus, Castle Noel has been deemed America’s largest year-round indoor Christmas entertainment attraction. Klaus also creates the ornaments that you can buy at Castle Noel. One of them is the Nutcracker LED light-up figurine ($30). “Adorned as only Mark can do with the swan scene from the ballet, this lovely piece will not only be a favorite for years but also a reminder to see this ballet every year as well,” reads its website. Castle Noel gift shop offers ornaments, mugs, clothing and even National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation-themed shot glasses ($19.95). 260 S. Court St., Medina, 330-721-6635, castlenoel.com
Hixson's
(Open Until February)
A staple of Cleveland since the early 1950s, Hixson’s has not just been a place to buy items for Christmas but a place to create Christmas memories. Hixson’s was founded by Bill Hixson, also known as Mr. Christmas, who passed away in 2022 at 93. “It means everything to keep his traditions alive if you knew the type of person he was and how he reached out to the community and everybody loved him,” co-owner Matthias Burke, who has worked at Hixson’s since he was 15 years old, told Cleveland Magazine. 14125 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216-521-9277, hixson.com
A Christmas Story Gift Shop
The holiday movie classic, A Christmas Story, has been enjoyed for more than four decades now, and the iconic residence where the movie is filmed is restored to capture the house that shaped our childhoods. It is ready for fans to tour or stay a night at. The house also operates a gift shop to help you recreate scenes in your home. Yes, that means you can own a full-sized Christmas Leg Lamp ($299) and place it in your window. Just like Ralphie says, “only one thing in the world could have dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window,” or you can pick from a selection of items of Ralphie in his Easter bunny costume that makes him “look like a deranged Easter bunny.” 3159 W. 11th St., Cleveland, 216-298-4919, housefromachristmasstory.com
Catherine's Christmas
(Open until Dec. 24)
Judy O’Connell, the founder of Catherine’s Christmas, started the gift shop during the off-season of her day job at Sands RV sales in 1993, naming it after her mother, Catherine. “Christmas was her favorite time of the year, full of family, friends, and lots of love,” reads their website about Catherine. In 1994, Judy found their current location in Geneva, permanently opened the gift shop there, and “turned it into the store of her dreams.” Now, the gift shop is run by Judy’s daughter-in-law, Melissa O’Connell, who keeps Judy's vision and traditions at heart while seeking out the newest holiday trends. 910 E. Main St., Geneva, 440-466-3545, catherinechristmas.com
Tis the Season Christmas Shoppe
What makes Tis the Season Christmas Shoppe special is that it has been open year-round since 1996 to make building your winter wonderland easier each season. “Every year, my husband takes me to Tis the Season for my birthday, which is in July. So, every July, I get my Christopher Radko ornaments. The staff is wonderful, and so are the displays,” reads a testimonial from their website. This location truly has everything you need to decorate your house, including trees and everything in between, during this Christmas season, as it offers thousands of ornaments, tree toppers, garlands and more. 4363 State Route 39, Millersburg, 1-888-893-3604, tistheseasonchristmas.com
