It’s been two years since crimson tents hung over AsiaTown’s Rockwell Avenue and East 21st Street, but on June 21, Night Market Cleveland marked its official return.
In the shadow of Emperor’s Palace Restaurant, string-lit rows of street food vendors, local artisans and businesses attracted more than 15,000 people during its initial three-year run before taking a brief hiatus in the summer of 2018.
After leaving the St. Clair Superior Development Corp. to become a nonprofit, Night Market Cleveland returns with four summer dates, including the upcoming July 26 event featuring more than 100 regional vendors and sparkling live performances. Local investors have chipped in on neighborhood building facelifts and landscaping improvements, giving the fest a refresh.
“The whole purpose behind Night Market is to get people’s eyes on the community as a whole,” says secretary Josh Maxwell. “For us, having that investment back into the community and having proof that Night Market’s presence is a benefit to local property investment and management is a success story.”
