Inspired by the classic cocktail, the Last Word, the Corrida has a smoky and herbal taste that will make any drinker feel refreshed. Made up of yellow Chartreuse, Mezcal, Luxardo and lime juice, the cocktail is then shaken up and served. The Black Pig makes other cocktails to go, so all drinks are packaged in a small, plastic container. Any instructions are then labeled on top for the customer. But for the Corrida, the only instruction is simple — pour, drink and enjoy. The lime juice in the drink brings out the citrusy taste, making it the perfect summer cocktail. “It's very bright and refreshing,” says Michael Nowak, chef and owner of the Black Pig. 2801 Bridge Ave., Cleveland, 862-7551, blackpigcle.com
Brewnuts’ Frozen Bubbles
Think of it as a Capri Sun for adults. Packaged in a biodegradable plastic pouch with a zipper top, this pink cocktail combines Rhinegeist's Rosé Ale with different blended fruit syrups, such as raspberry, mixed to perfection in a Slushie machine to complete your throwback fantasy. Store the pouches in the freezer until you’re ready to imbibe. “Frose had a huge moment when people first started serving that,” says Shelley Pippin, co-owner of the Gordon Square spot. “This is just a more approachable version of that really, because of the fact that we make it with a rosy ale instead of doing it with a Champagne.” 6501 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, 216-600-9579, brewnutecleveland.com
Edwins’ Pomme Orleans
Inspired by New Orleans’ signature Sazerac, Edwins’ Pomme Orleans gets its “Pomme” — the French word for apple — from Boulard Calvados, an apple-based spirit made solely in Normandy that gives the drink just a hint of sweetness. The French brasserie’s dry cocktail also includes Demerara syrup, Pechaud’s Bitters and Ricard Pastis, an anise aperitif that’s a classic summer sipper in France. “It really blows the summer air into this drink,” says Brandon Chrostowski, Edwins’ founder and president. Take the to-go cup home and pour this refined tipple over ice for the perfect Francophile finish. 13101 Shaker Square, Cleveland, 216-921-3333, edwinsrestaurant.org
