Out of This World
Blast off into space with a film and exhibit combo at the Cincinnati Museum Center until Oct. 14. Check out "Space: A Journey to Our Future," a hands-on experience complete with actual rocks from that mysterious red planet, Mars. Also, take a look through the history of the space program with artifacts from past voyages. "Space Station," an OMNIMAX film narrated by Tom Cruise, will leave "astronauts" breathless with a view of planets like they've never seen before. Admission for both adventures is $10.25 for adults and $7.25 for children (ages 3-12). For more information or to purchase tickets, call (513) 287-7001 or visit www.cincymuseum.org.
Aging Gracefully
Just like wine, antiques get better with age. The 26th annual Doulton Convention & Sale kicks off Friday, Aug. 12, with a reception of wine and cheese and hundreds of Royal Doulton signature collectibles to preview. These antiques come from as far as the United Kingdom and will be on display through Aug. 14 at Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Akron. Louise Irvine, author of 15 books on collecting, will speak about these timeless beauties. One new piece, the Pope John Paul II figurine, will be on display for the first time. While the show is free, the cost for the Friday reception is $10. Dinner will be served Saturday, Aug. 13, for $40 per person. For more information, call Laine at Pascoe & Co. at 1-800-643-2550, ext. 102.
