On Tuesday evening, rapper and Cleveland native Kid Cudi canceled the return of Moon Man’s Landing, a one-day music festival which began last year in the Flats.

In a tweet posted at 6:55 p.m. Cudi says “Im gonna have to cancel Moon Man’s Landing this year. I Know you guys wanted an outdoor festival, and so did I, but the city wouldnt approve it.”

The rapper goes on to state that fans weren’t interested in the event’s move to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, which was confirmed to host Moon Man's Landing following its announcement through AEG Presents on June 14.

Not long after the cancellation, Mayor Justin Bibb himself responded to the tweet.

“Shoot me a DM or email at mayorbibb@clevelandohio.gov and let us know how we can help,“ he writes.

According to a Tyler Sinclair, communications strategist for the mayor's office, the City of Cleveland never received a permit application from Moon Man's Landing and was unaware of Cudi's need for an outdoor venue.

"We're working together now to find a solution so we can still make the festival happen," he says.

Following Mayor Bibb's response, both he and Cudi exchanged tweets culminating in a call between the two with the goal of bringing Moon Man's Landing to Cleveland this year.

"Just had a great call w @MayorBibb about the festival, Stay tuned. Workin fast to find a solution to still do it this year! Thanx Justin for making yourself available brother," Cudi tweeted around noon the same day.

Before its cancellation, Moon Man’s Landing boasted a lineup featuring Cudi, Lil Uzi Vert, $uicideboy$ and local artists Chelsea Pastel and Siena Bella.

Presale tickets were set to go on sale on June 21 before the event’s cancellation — only presale registration was available prior to that.
