Your summer filled with seeing the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center or Maren Morris at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica has taken an unexpected turn. And even just sitting at your neighborhood spot and hearing your favorite indie band hasn’t been allowed for months. But as Gov. Mike DeWine has rolled out new guidelines and policies for many businesses and venues, local bars and music spots are slowly amping up their music scenes again. If you’re longing for the days of sipping on a Great Lakes beer and catching some tunes, here’s a few spots where you can hear live music right now.
Cebar’s Euclid Tavern: Opening back up May 24, Cebar’s Euclid Tavern’s Facebook page declared: “Governor’s Orders – Cebar’s must have live music!” A new outdoor stage was built during the closing of the bar, allowing musicians to keep their distance outdoors, while also performing for a live audience. Performers are announced each week on the East Side bar’s Facebook page, along with the main dish for each night. 595 E. 185th St., Cleveland, 216-481-9509
Coda: Werewolf Wednesdays’ Open Mic continues at Coda, starting at 8 p.m., with drums, guitar amps, keyboards and DJs available to participants. Codapalooza, the Tremont venue’s outdoor summer concert series, will continue in the parking lot of Dante. Private boxes, which can seat 10 guests, are available for $350. Kelley’s Pub: Kelley’s Pub spent the time they were closed to clean, sanitize, rearrange and paint. Since reopening May 21, the pub has asked for guest to follow the state’s recommended guidelines. Music Box Supper Club: Locating on the West Bank of the Flats, the two-story concert venue and restaurant opened back up June 18. All employees are required to wear a mask and all guests are encouraged to wear one as well. The venue will provide a mask to guests who don’t have one. Music Box is offering Table for 2 Concerts for $75 a ticket. These concerts are intimate, with tables spaced 12 feet apart from each other. Smedley’s Bar and Grille: On June 11, Smedley’s resumes its weekly schedule of music. Every Thursday night, the popular bar has a mix of musicians gathering for a free Jam Night with the band, the Freebyrds. The Winchester Music Tavern: Since resuming service May 22, the Winchester now has limited seating in the tavern, as well as the patio. A cleaning crew works before, during and after every shift, making sure everything is clean. While live shows are currently postponed due to the coronavirus, Open Mic Night, happening every Tuesday, started once again on June 9.
