Owned by sisters Catherine Kassouf and Jean Khoury, Browsing Room Bookstore is a recently opened bookshop that anyone can find cozy, even if they aren’t much of a reader. “For me it is simple,” says Jean Khoury. “To the person that says ‘I don’t like to read,’ I say they simply have not found the right book. Located in Downtown Cleveland, Clevo Books focuses on translated fiction and nonfiction books. Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre
Based in Akron, Elizabeth’s is an indie bookshop with a mission to represent and celebrate marginalized voices. “It’s really special to be a part of a national network of Black bookstore owners that, together, uplift the voices we value so much,” says shop owner Rachel Cargle. “Traditional canons have left certain voices in the margins. Not only Black voices but indigenous voices, queer voices, disabled voices, immigrant voices, among others. It is an honor to open a space that seriously takes these thoughts and perspectives and talents.” With a lively selection of writing and reading workshops, it’s a solid place for anyone to foster their creative talents. Fireside Book Shop
An important community staple, Fireside Book Shop has been in Chagrin Falls since 1963, seeing a lifetime of good books and friends to share them with. They proudly stock fiction, nonfiction, school-required reading and everything in between, and also offer a trade-in program where you can trade a gently-used book in exchange for store credit. A fresh face in Cleveland’s indie bookstore scene opened in Lakewood in February 2025 and has quickly become a haven for fans of romance and fantasy. This woman-owned shop proudly stocks a carefully curated selection of romantasy titles, along with swoon-worthy reads across subgenres. “Every book is reviewed by me and then chosen to be put on the shelf. Hexagon Books
This independent bookstore specializes in world literature, multilingual books, and language learning with a curated selection of books from various cultures and languages. Owner Manuel Chinchilla, originally from Honduras, opened the store in July 2024 with the aim of bringing diverse literature to the community. In addition to its literary offerings, Hexagon Books provides Spanish and Italian language classes for adults, with plans to expand to other languages and children's workshops. Loganberry Books

Located in Coventry Village, this is a book lover’s dream: three floors of books, top to bottom.
