About 13 years ago, I was looking for an area that was in close proximity to pretty much everything. Bedford Heights was right on the money with I-480 and I-271 nearby.
We have one hotel when you’re coming off the highway. Years ago, it was a Ramada Inn and a Red Roof Inn. Now it’s the Bedford Heights Inn. It’s not a lead or name brand hotel, but we want to promote it. I go up there and eat breakfast.
I call the city’s Perkins Avenue complexthe campus. We have the community center, mayor’s office and City Hall right here. Maybe it’ll catch on.
We’re in the process of building a playground for the fall called FunTown, right on campus near the Jimmy Dimora Community Center. We visited all four of our elementary schools, and they had input on it. It will be one of the best playgrounds we have in Bedford Heights.
The community was buzzing. I had calls from out of state saying, “I heard President Obama is going to be there.” It was a lot of buzz and a lot of security.
Reed Park is where our outdoor swimming pool is located. In the summer months, it’s used quite extensively, even more than our Olympic-size indoor pool.
When you first go in the Harley-Davidson Diner, you think it’s just for bikers. I took my son and daughter there, and I’ve even had lunch there with clients. It’s really nice and nostalgic with the booths where you can get your milk shakes, burgers and fries.
“Best Location for Relocation.” We’re promoting that for not only businesses, but residential living as well.
