This is the first time Twinsburg has placed in the Top 5. But it’s easy to see why this city is a desirable place to live. It has a small-town feeling with a bustling downtown, boasts the third-lowest property taxes and has solid safety and school rankings. Residents voted in the first-ever mayoral primary this May. Though the city, best known for its annual Twins Days, is highly developed, officials have worked to preserve open space by owning and maintaining 23 percent of the city’s open areas — the 1,900 acres complements an extensive parks system, including Liberty Park with its stunning ledges and views. The city of more than 17,000 is still recovering from the loss of 516 jobs in 2004 when Cole National closed, but the city will see a new 105,000-square-foot Army Reserve Training Center and a 47,000-square-foot University Hospitals medical office create a combined 100 jobs by late fall. A moral victory for some, Scarlett’s Cabaret closed in December after a nine-month fight with City Hall.
