Harrison has always been a fan of bow ties.
The 10-year-old son of John and Tera Chmura might have had no choice as a baby when his parents dressed him in the fancy neckwear.
“But as he grew up, he would still pick those out and wear them to school,” says John. “It just seemed like a natural fit of something that he was interested in.”
So the Chmura’s launched H-Bomb Ties, an online neckwear company, in October 2018, as a way to provide a future career for their son, who was born with Down syndrome. The couple set up the business so Harrison can develop certain skills, such as sorting and sequencing over time.
Currently, he’s involved in pattern selection, and hand-stamps a thank-you note with each order. Neckties and bow ties come in striped and plaid patterns that work well for understated, everyday business attire, while you can jazz up your look with bright tropical patterns, sweet ice cream cones, rad rocket ships and a popular T. Rex tie.
“I’m all about patterns that are versatile,” says John. “I don’t have a huge wardrobe, so when I can get a tie that works for multiple seasons I love that.” hbombties.com
