With its streaks of purple, red, blue and green, the mural that covers Graffiti Heart’s building radiates from the corner of East 49th Street and Superior Avenue as a beacon of inspiration and creativity.
Part of Kelly “Risk” Graval’s “Beautifully Destroyed” series, the piece wraps around the Graffiti Heart Gallery & Museum’s north, south and east sides. It’s enchanting, gritty and mysterious — and yet a great place to snag a selfie.
Roughly 30 different colors brim across what started as ghost-white primer. Risk sprayed and watered layer upon layer over the course of four to five days, adding embellishments with aerosol to deepen architectural features.
