If you’re like us, you may still sneak a few crispy tater tots off your kid’s dinner plate. But at Bay Village’s Thyme Table, we don’t have to hide our obsession with the childhood classic. Chef and owner Mike Smith wanted to create a dish that centered around the little cylinders of shredded potatoes, and within 15 minutes, he had the recipe for the loaded lobster tater tots ($9 small, $12 entree).
The popular dish lives up to its name with a heaping portion of lobster (Smith opts for the sweet, tender claw meat), applewood-smoked bacon, scallions, cilantro, house-made cheese sauce and a chipotle aioli that gives the hearty meal a slight kick.
“It kind of brings you back to thinking about a higher-end steakhouse, where you’ve got that big poached lobster, but also brings it down because it’s sitting on a bowl of tater tots,” Smith says. 583 Dover Center Road, Bay Village, 440-617-6964, thymextable.com
