Tee off at Topgolf Cleveland for an un-fore-gettable new take on a timeless sport.
Unlike a traditional driving range, this year-round golf paradise in Independence features three stories of climate-controlled hitting bays, an outfield of inviting targets and an electronic scoring system that keeps players hanging on every shot. Add in a full-service restaurant and bar and this makes for decidedly different golf.
“There’s music, lights and a fun energy and vibe,” says John Lesieutre, Topgolf Cleveland’s director of operations. “We want to get rid of that perception of golf as an unexciting sport.”
Open since last December, Topgolf offers nine games that challenge players to hit microchipped golf balls into large targets on the outfield turf. Land the ball inside a target and your score goes up, all tracked on the computer screens in each bay.
Some games demand power, others precision — but, with the closest target just 25 yards away, even beginners can take a swing. Topgolf encourages regulars to flex their golf muscles.
“Instead of just crushing the ball as far as you can, options like TopShot and TopChip challenge players to use their irons to hit specific targets at shorter distances,” says Lesieutre. “A trip to Topgolf will enhance all of your skills.” 5820 Rockside Woods Blvd. N., Independence, 216-619-2464, topgolf.com/us/cleveland
