You may be a club hot shot on your local links, but have you bested courses such as Pebble Beach Golf Links in California or St. Andrews Links in Scotland? ProXimity Golf Lounge in Cleveland Heights gives us the chance to play both in a matter of hours — all without the need for a Tiger Woods-sized bank account.
Unveiled in 2019, this entertainment venue features five play-it-to-believe-it golf simulators, which use a camera and two infrared light fields to measure the speed, spin rate and launch angle of the ball once you hit it. “I’m a pretty good golfer, and I’m still amazed at how accurate this is,” said Robert McMahon, who co-owns ProXimity with his wife Meghan. Play more than 100 courses ($35-$45 an hour for up to four players) in semi-private bays, along with a limited (for now) menu of bar food favorites, beer, wine and more.
If golf isn’t your bag, the simulators also feature activities such as kicking a soccer ball or throwing a football. “We’ve had parents golfing in one bay and kids playing something else in another,” says Meghan. 3099 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, 216-331 7001, proximitygolf.com
