The hazy IPA, which is on tap at each location of Hola Tacos and Barroco Arepa Bar (including the joint location in downtown Willoughby where it’s brewed), is made using all fresh ingredients, including coconut flakes and pineapple, giving unsuspecting first-timers the feeling of kicking back in a far-off beach paradise.
“We are very focused on using the best products we can find,” says Paola Valbuena, operational vice president and brewer at Pulpo. The result is a citrusy, sweet and flavorfully intense beer that pairs so perfectly with everything from tacos and arepas to chips and salsa, you’ll swear you’re on a Caribbean getaway. “That beer reminds me of a good vacation cocktail,” says Valbuena, who has a background in chemical engineering. “That’s what I love about it.
