Can you survive a weekend without your phone? That’s the idea behind the two- and four-person cabins at Getaway Beaver Creek: Take a vacation from social media, work emails and technology. Each tiny house ($99-$169), located about an hour and a half southeast of Cleveland, comes with just the basics, such as hot water, queen-size beds, a kitchenette, landline phone and a cellphone lockbox.
“We’re not creating any experience,” says Getaway co-founder and CEO Jon Staff. “You’re creating the experience.” Gaze out the big window beside your bed until you fall asleep under the stars, cook dinner over the campfire and just reconnect with your loved ones.
“We get all these stories from people that go like, ‘I went to Getaway and I actually talked to my husband, or my wife, or my boyfriend, or my girlfriend for the first time,’ ” Staff says. “ ‘Like we talk all the time, but we sat next to a campfire, and we really talked.’ ” getaway.house
