While millennials might not have been alive to witness all the glory of the 1960s — shift dresses, knee-high boots, psychedelic prints — Fount is helping us capture the essence of the decade with its Banjo Bag ($1,450). Made of full-grain leather, the round handbag resembles the base of a banjo and measures an impressive 18 inches across. “It’s simple, yet eye-catching,” says co-owner Phillip Wachter. Sketched by his wife, co-owner Jackie Wachter, on a whim, it makes a statement regardless of the color: deep chestnut or a rich, black leather coined Raven. Each bag takes up to nine hours to sew by hand in Fount’s Cleveland studio, which is why if you’re ready to make the investment in this hefty tote, the staff only crafts them to order. “It takes a long time to make this bag, but it’s worth it,” Phillip says. “It’s a bag that is going to be a statement for generations.” 6706 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, 216-855-8751, fountleather.com
