We're lucky that any Bom Truffles get to see the light of day. "I feel like Lucille Ball in that bit where she does the truffles, and she's stuffing half of them in her mouth," says owner Carolina Martin. To create the six flavors of her adults-only chocolate confections ($5 for a box of four), Martin combines sugar, cocoa powder, pecans, vanilla wafers and spices with a mixture of honey and booze (think Kahlua, tequila and bourbon). Every now and then, an unexpected flavor will be added to the rotation. For instance, when one fan asked her for a Jagermeister truffle, she decided to give it a shot. The flavor has been so popular it's now a fixture on her menu. But there's no need to feel guilty indulging in her treats - profits from her chocolates help fund her nonprofit, Imprint, which offers activities and programs for the disabled and immobile. "It's fun," she says, "and it funds the more serious things that we do." 216-941-7643, thebom.us
