Then: Shinto's Little Delicious Roll already had us at cream cheese, avocado, crabmeat, cucumber and spicy tuna. But by deep-frying the whole thing and serving it with spicy mayo and eel sauce, the Strongsville sushi spot wrapped up a place in our hearts. Now: In September 2014, Shinto built a bigger sushi bar, which can sit more than 30 people. This year, the restaurant expanded to the East Side with the opening of Kenko, a fast-casual spin on Shinto that lets guests create their own rolls or go with reliable favorites. "We like to play with whatever we have in our hands," says Shinto's head chef Victor Garduno. "It can be potatoes on one hand and steak on the other hand, and we will come up with something to make a sushi roll." 17070 Pearl Road, Strongsville, 440-878-3868, shintoexperience.com; 11312 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-862-7690, kenko-usa.com
