Forget postcards or keychains. When Bruce Iacovelli, co-owner of Riverstone Taverne, returned from a trip to Madrid in the 1980s, he wanted to remember the sights, sounds and tastes of the Spanish capital through food. So he worked with a nearby Amish bakery to craft mini-baguettes for Montaditos, the two-bite gourmet sandwiches he fell in love with. "The bread was freshly baked, and the fillings were just simple," he says. The Brunswick restaurant offers six varieties of the tiny sammies such as the Put-In-Bay Poboy ($2.49) with lightly breaded Lake Erie perch, diced tomatoes and a house-made chili lime aioli. "The idea is wonderful for people who don't want to overeat or overindulge," he says. 5288 Center Road, Brunswick, 330-483-9900, riverstonetaverne.com
